According to a race report, the horse was “reluctant to race” but chased the other horses before a “bad mistake” and the fall.
The Cob is one of at least four Irish horses who have died in racing in the UK since the start of 2023.
– On Tuesday (10 Jan), “Ballyglass“ was fatally injured at Doncaster
– On Saturday (7 Jan), “First Illusion“ was destroyed after suffering an injury at Newcastle Racecourse.
– On 6 January 2023, “Dont Tell David“ was also killed after being “injured on bend” in a race at Ludlow.
More and more horses are dying in racing. Since 2007, Animal Aid has documented 2,554 horse deaths at UK racecourses. Find out more on the Race Horse Death Watch website https://www.horsedeathwatch.com/
