Donedeal has removed an advert for an electronic rodent trap after the Irish Council Against Blood Sports reported it as a breach of the company’s terms and conditions.
The ad from a seller in Mayo, outlined that the electric or battery-operated trap “kills the mouse/ rat when its feet touch two plates and an electrical circuit is completed”.
After ICABS pointed out to Dondeal that electronic traps are illegal in Ireland, the ad was removed.
The cruel traps are not an approved trap as defined by the Wildlife Act 1976 (Approved Traps, Snares and Nets) Regulations. Possession, and offering for sale, of unapproved traps is an offence.
Donedeal’s terms and conditions state: “Ads containing illegal material are not allowed on our Website.”
If you spot an advert on Donedeal for electronic traps, please click on the “Report Ad” link and let us know.
